Spider crab, Breakwater Beach, Brixham (this morning)
While on the beach this morning, I met this lovely spider crab, who was wandering about on the main part of the beach with an air of confusion.
Following photographing, I took this lovely person and released it off the rocks back into slight more spider-crab friendly water.

North Petherton Carnival, 7 November 2009

No webpage about the westcountry would be complete without some pictures of Carnival.

If you don't know much about it, or are thinking, 'What's all this, then?' Here's some more information.

Coate Water

Despite having lived in Wiltshire all my life, I realise I haven't really spent much time really looking.... so I went on a wander to Coate Water and took a couple of pictures. It's quite pretty there, really - especially first thing in the morning.

Charmouth, West Dorset
I'm really proud of these photos and wanted to share them here. They were all taken last Saturday morning (5 July) between about eight o'clock and nine o'clock. This illustrates how quickly and dramatically the weather and sea conditions can change here in the south-west of England.

Things are definitely stirring out here in the delightfully secluded back of beyond. Spring is making its presence felt.

This was taken at Priddy Pools on the Mendip Hills in Somerset
The area now occupied by Priddy Pools used to be a Roman lead mining site.
